Bharat RailVidya Fellowship
The Bharat RailVidya Fellowship is a full-time, year-long, paid fellowship program run jointly by North-Central Railway's Bharat Scouts & Guides and RDWA. Fellows are trained to become Empathetic Mentors to closely work with street-connected children living around railway tracks, parents/ caretakers, local officials, and railway administration to create empathetic spaces and build 21st century skills in children
The Bharat RailVidya Fellowship aimed at utilizing unused spaces within the railway vicinity to provide education and empowerment to millions of street-connected children residing in and around railway tracks. The Fellowship is a form of street work that treats each child as a unique individual and supports children to make changes in their lives, that they want to envision for themselves.
The fellowship, besides Aligarh, is now expanding to Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Kanpur, Tundla (Firozabad), and Mirzapur
In our fellows, we look for youth who are curious to build an understanding of children in street situations and become lifelong mentors to build a more empathetic world with them.
The fellowship is designed into 4 phases to develop young change makers who embody and practice problem-solving skills that are needed to create large-scale social and public systems change and bring a sustainable impact into the lives of the most marginalized section of our society. The Fellowship program aims to expand in 30 locations by 2027, thus empowering close to 1lakh people living on the railway tracks in the country in different aspects ranging from providing quality education to other necessities in life.
